If you are inspired to, give readings. Part of the reading is fate, and so the client receives what they’re meant to. But I do think it’s important to listen to inspiration first. If you feel more inspired to study and less inspired to give readings then do that.
You have to approach reading horoscopes with a great attitude of surrender. Going to the astrologer is called Devaprashna, counseling the Gods, and the Gods are the forces, aka, Deities that operate through the planets, signs and nakshatras. The minute a client walks into the room there are two possibilities. Your ego and wounds are in charge, or the God's are in charge of the reading. So if a person has the attitude of wanting to be a great astrologer, show off great predictions, make a lot of money, get fame, etc. Then the God's loose charge of the reading. If you show up with the one purpose of helping the person, then the God's are in charge of the reading and the people will show up who need what you have the ability to tell them from their chart. Even if you only read one book on astrology, you can be helpful. And if you don't know something, just say, I am sorry, I don't know because sometimes the God's don't want the person to know anything about what they asked. And sometimes they do, and then, even though you don't know, you will somehow know and tell them the thing they need to hear.
It's really an act of surrender. Surrender only happens with Love. You have to Love astrology to do this. If you love money, or fame or success more than astrology, the Astrology God's cannot work through you. So all you have to do is love astrology and want to help people. Then have fun studying what you love.
Wanting to help and surrender to the greater purpose is big. I remember many years ago working with an astrological iching technique and I did a reading for someone telling them from the hexagram that they had the right to rule and would become a leader in the future. This person is not very ambitious so it was quite a shock but something sort of "sparked out" when I told her this. I kept working with the technique and realized I had made a mistake in respect to the calculations I did on her astro hexagram and it was suppose to be a different one that didn't have anything to do with rulership or being a leader. Even so, I decided not to say anything to her as there was some energy that happened. She was in management in a large global non profit organization and kept working her way up and 10 years after I gave that reading she is now the head of the organization. So sometimes your mistakes from technique will be the truth of the spirit. Perhaps surrender to the message coming through that needs to be heard is more powerful than technique.
