Someone said that a soul can be born into this world not as the soul of one person, but instead divided among several people? Can such thing be believed?

How is it really?

I've often wondered that.

Perhaps it the fated future life(lives) of someone, a Pisces lagna, swamsha, or pada (two fish swimming in opposite directions), who is also a 3 of spades (flying apart), with enemy planet conjunctions/oppositions with opposing agendas.

We could also be one person in this life who is a conglomeration of different past/parallel lives who came together to be more whole in this particular lifetime, only to go our separate ways with our new separate assignments 'till we meet again in one person in a distant future life.

I am a very fragmented person of the 1st paragraph's description who also has two separate past life impressions/memories that cover the same period of recent history.

The truth may be more multidimensional than a linear timeline of sequential reincarnations. Our Ketu selves may secretly know about such things.

Something to ponder.

S.

Interesting story with such things. An astrologer told me that he was convinced that people could be born around the same time and live in the same city and share the same soul, one soul for two. It seemed a bit too optimistic theory to me. ????

There is one super soul Paramatma. And he divided himself into billions of souls who forgot their true nature due to Maya/illusion to play the game in this world until they remember their true nature again and realise their oneness with the Supreme soul. The symbol of that Paramatma is Sun and symbol of those divided selves is Moon who reflects the light of sun but considers itself a separate entity. So in truth, there is only one soul only expressing through billions of lives in different ways. This is what I have understood from spiritual literature and correlation with astrology.

Now saying one soul again divided into two or more doesn't align with above. However it is possible that two souls have very intimate affinity and feel same God in each other and realise their divine oneness and consider themselves as one only which is anyways true! An enlightened man sees and realises his presence in every person. Like in Autobiography of Yogi, in one chapter, Lahiri Mahasaya started shouting and feeling the pain of people who were dying while some ship was sinking in Japan I think. That's why saints realise - There is no separation, There is only one of us!

@amit I enjoy the logic here. Absolutely I think there's a lot to this perspective.

I definitely believe souls can recognize each other from past lives but the idea that there's a supersoul vested in different bodies I haven't seen life provide any evidence for. The basic problem seems to be logistics and logic as you have described above.

Yes, the unity of souls has been written and spoken about. It also seems completely logical.

I had a discussion with an astrologer when he looked at a birth chart and the question was there was a problem with a married couple and he claimed that the reason for the man's infidelity was the division of souls between several people seen in the horoscope, or it is said that one of the spouses cannot live a stable marriage because he is looking for his divided soul somewhere from elsewhere.

In my eyes, there were more bad choices and certain weaknesses, some difficult avashtas and more an internal problem of the person himself.

The explanation that a person was born with a divided soul, which he shares with someone else and therefore cannot live a family life, was a bit simple or somehow a searched explanation in my eyes.

Sometimes I have heard similar statements that one or another person shares his soul with another fellow citizen and some have not, I have heard before. No further explanation has been received and this approach tends to be somewhat illogical to me.

Behavior and the question of the soul are different things. It is interesting how weaknesses are sometimes tried to be argued by some as if it were an inevitable direction, because it is one or another person who, unlike others, has a shared soul with a fellow citizen. Something seems maybe off here.

One thing is theoretical clarity about the soul as such, another thing is to try to argue the behavior of some people, why they behave one way or another - that apparently, unlike others, the soul is somehow divided with someone else and it´s in the natal chart.

I think this interpretation may be from some branch of astrology that is being promoted somewhere.

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts!

@ayan I appreciate you sharing this! I have also heard such ideas and this is how I see the issue.

It has been mentioned in the courses here that part of the spiritual evolutionary process is upgrading our consciousness to be more individualized and aligned with reality. It's possible this perception shows where someone would be on the path here if they are arguing in good faith.

I have noticed with this spiritual process that the Aham-kara, that goes by other more charged names, can and will create literally any possible story or explanation to avoid growth and spiritual transformation. This is where our use of discernment becomes extra-important.

I used to take comedic arts classes and in Improv you can see in live action how the human brain does this. The brain and our deeper wiring can justify practically anything, which is why the spiritual process is very important.

I think about it like this, if we're here to transform our consciousness what would allow this person to transform their consciousness the most (if they ask)? Give them a simple comforting story they can tell themselves as they maintain their current state of behavior, self-perception and level of consciousness or show them their full options of how they can grow and change, and be honest about the reality of choosing to stay exactly the same. Of course that conversation will vary based on the chart of each person.
