but the goal is to be the sun
Hi Ernst,
1) Does that mean we need to develop, or spend more time dwelling in, our Sun rashi in our chart and its environment/qualities? Kind of like we also need to develop our Rahu rashi and integrate qualities of our descendant rashi as well?
It sounds like in a way our moon, like Ketu, has a play in our personal security paradigm, with regard to our habitual personality and the angle from which we try to get our needs met. And it is hard to leave our moon behind when never got our legitimate needs met at the appropriate time when young. Loneliness, malnourishment, etc.
2) But it also seems that the goal of yoga is to integrate and merge both our Sun and our Moon, yin and yang. Ida and Pingala. Like in raja and hatha yoga and Taoist practices as well.
And the Vedanga Jyotish regards both the Sun and the Moon as the creators and rulers of the year. I think the Moon has just as much part in creating the tropical zodiac as the Sun as they are both needed in order to create months. And the moon's gravitational effect to the earth also helps to stabilize the zodiacal rhythms and seasons and days.
I would say the rashis are luni-solar and the nakshatras are soli-lunar. The old texts described the nakshatras as a soli-lunar calendar.
These reasons are why I think tropical nakshatras are as valid as sidereal ones. That is, when nakshatras are defined as equal-length units of time projected onto, and spread out around, an abstract circle of space, and not just different clusters of fixed stars that exist in deep space.
Thanks, and sorry for the lengthy post,
S.
We don't need to spend more time in our sun energy, we need to make the growth that allows us to spend more time in our sun energy. Those are two very different things, one is real, the other is hypocrisy.
I will make a youtube video explaining all this more soon and also add it to the rahu and ketu course as its connected with the nodes.
And yes, there is a lot of merit of attaching nakshatras to the tropical circle, but in this case I think they need to start with krittika at the vernal equinox. Vedanga jyotish attaches dhanishita, Sravistha, to the winter solstice.
We don't need to spend more time in our sun energy, we need to make the growth that allows us to spend more time in our sun energy. Those are two very different things, one is real, the other is hypocrisy.
I am looking forward to learning what this means, and to watching that new planned Youtube video that will be added to the Ra/Ke course!
