There is NOTHING that can be done to the house saturn is in

Hi Ernst

Then what about cases where Saturn is in the 10th or 11th. Does one face situations where he cannot build on his karma or income

(I used to think Saturn in 10th makes one workaholic and in 11th makes one receive slow but sure gains )

@rajan Saturn is often said to be good in the 10th, and even the 11th sometimes. There is so much conflicting info about astrology.

It shows how we not only need to study most relevant and dependable scriptures, and the correct translation and interpretation of them, but also do many years of testing and observation of as many contemporary real life examples as possible.

I am still confused.

@mitryendra80 I personally love Steven Forrest explanation of Saturn. Its gift is the ability to see reality clearly and to respond to concrete issues with self-discipline, patience and practicality (Saturn is collision with reality, the ultimate one being that we will all face death one day). Basically, it's a planet for "grown ups". If we fail to mature, Saturn will trick us by

"building a mile-high wall across the road of our life, filling us with a sense of impossibility and self-pity (...) What we often miss is that, even though that wall is high, it is not very wide. We can go around it, as long as we adapt to changing circumstances."

When my son was born, Saturn was on my ascendant, I can relate to the growing up imperative Saturn put on my shoulders. I was not ready, and it turned out to be a very rough time.

Personally, I've let go of the sometimes harsh descriptions of ancient texts. I prefer the poetry, wisdom and potentialities offered by each planet that I find in more modern authors/texts. We've evolved as human beings and I think astrology needs to evolve as well. So, while Saturn has more resonance with some houses, it can be a gift or a challenge in any house. But, it's a very personal choice and opinion.

@mona  Saturn in the 11th house:

Favorable: pursues opportunities in a structured and prudent manner; adds to existing processes and inventions, profits from traditional or established businesses; gains through older siblings, longtime friends, and mature people of influence; interest in the issues of the common man, political savvy

Unfavorable: friends or older siblings cause obstructions to financial gains, trouble with children, unromantic partner (11th is 5th from 7th), setbacks from partner's speculations, low-level interests, questionable honesty, ears or hearings problems, trouble with children, circulatory troubles

@tuyetv thanks, very interesting, I can relate to it and it looks like I’ve been experiencing the nice end of that stick. Though I had a lot of ear infections my first year. I also wonder about the children part. No trouble with my kid (at least not yet ????) but I am an only child and I’ve always wanted to have one child. My Saturn, the loner, is in Cancer.  I wonder if in the “good old days” having only one child wasn’t seen as some curse. Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Then a person starts to beat a dead horse and they end up depressed cause all the energy is going to where no energy should be placed.

That is so true when I think of it in terms of my Rahu-Ketu axis.

Mercury is the child of the Moon, and Saturn is the child of the Sun. But both these children seem to work as a system of checks-and-balance with regards to their parents. Being androgynous, they can be used in any way by their parents.

if Saturn is meant to be lazy and that's what he does best, then shouldn't it be a good thing to have Saturn in the 4th house? What better place to be lazy then in the comfort of your own home, yes?

I think it might have to do with Saturn being the strict father figure. Saturn is limitations, boundaries (but different to that of Mercury). It is Time. The 4th house is about nurturing, dealing with the now. This is where joy is to be found, where Jupiter is exalted. This is where Mars is peacefully asleep.

As a father figure, Saturn’s job is also to look out and take care of external things and become a boundary so that they do not interfere with the 4th house affairs. If he becomes lazy in the 4th house, then there is no boundary. It is Saturn’s resistance to disease that stops us from being weak or in pain.

So can we say that Saturn is at odds with himself here? On one hand, it needs to be lazy, and on the other, build up resistance?

A whole can of worms has just opened up in my mind, so I would love some input on these thoughts.

@manisha It's laziness as more of a defense mechanism, I think. Because he's a bad provider and can't do anything to bring about the joy needed to sustain his household. So he tries to seperate himself in one room and just go to sleep or try and forget somehow by doing something else to distract himself, as Ernst mentioned. I don't see any resistance happening here, other than waiting for time to take it's course or for something new to happen.

Thanks for the input. I might be going completely on a tangent here, but it is something I am also trying to figure out between Mercury and Saturn.

While Mercury is the closest boundary for the Sun and Moon, Saturn is the furthest boundary. But Saturn in the 4th becomes the closest boundary instead of the furthest one. So this boundary perceives everyone and everything to be a threat to the inner self, and hence energetically pushes everyone and everything away, including things that are not threatening.

So, what happens in the mind is completely different to what is happening energetically, and eventually the mind becomes strong enough to shift and change the energy. This is interesting.
