Many Jyotishi or Jyotish systems suggest Yagyas as remedial measures.
I have had some yagyas done for me years ago and even attended several Yagya performences.
What is the English translation of the word "Yagya"?
Have Yagyas been actually mentioned as remedies in reliable Jyotish books?

A yagya means sacrifice, its when things are sacrificed into the fire. Brihat Parashara has a chapter on propitiation where he talks about things to offer the planets, so yes, that is a yagya, but otherwise, no, astrology books do not mention propitiation of any type in general. That is something that was passed through the priesthood.
