Hi Ernst, how do you define Vargottama? Does it apply on other vargas than the D-9 according to you?

Vargottama saves a bad dignity in the D-1, right? So a DB planet in the D-1, if it´s DB also in D-9, it´s not all that bad, nor for the D-9 nor for the Rasi, to my understanding. Is that correct?

I have a planet in my chart that is in GE sign in D-1, but it´s also in the same sign in all the vargas up to the D-7. Is that to be considered a good thing?

Best regards

Mattias

Vargottam only applies to the lagna and moon and only for rasi and navamsa. Other people will talk about it being used differently, but it does not work in those cases.

Now I can´t stop myself from wondering about the effect. Good results in dasas of those planet´s it´s said.

I have both - vargottam lagna and vargottam Moon, which is also my AK. I have a quite strong personality that I really don´t know if there are any indications for in my chart. I have a warrior kind of personality with quite a capacity to confront challenges, like doing a vision quest; a capacity for physical performance despite a not particularily impressive Mars, a DB Saturn and a little better than mediocre Sun. Would this be the expected result of a double vargottam? Somehow helping me to overcome hardships, that I have a lot of in my chart and also manifested in my life?

How about your Sun/Mars's sthana bala and chesta bala?

@amit Hi Amit; my Mars is conjunct Ketu and Jupiter in Libra, Inimical dignity, it get´s 209 % Sthana bala but only 63 % Chesta, very little starvation, and the Sun is with Mercury in Sagittarius, GF, 142 % Sthana, 2 % Chesta, delighted to almost 120 varupas but also starved to 33 % by Saturn. So a little more than mediocre Sun I said, but again: the Chesta is low, as is the case with Sagittarius Moon. Total ShadBala: 128 % for Mars and 112 for Mars.

I also have a very lucky akriti yoga, the Chakra yoga, paired with a not so good: the Sara yoga. And yes; I can relate to both of them, which of course is contradictory but just what one would expect.

Libra has the idea of killing/destruction.

Libra – Tula “balance scale” Rasi
“Front rising, the Balance Scale is rich in vigour during the day, dark (krishna), endowed with Rajas, western, moving on land,
killing/destroying, a Sudra, medium bodied, two-footed and ruled by Venus.

This ketu conjunction with Mars/Jupiter in Libra could be causing this warrior type personality. Mars sthana - capability is very high but confidence which is chesta is still low. Ketu shows you engaged in this type of activity in recent past lives, so it comes easily.

Jupiter in Libra can show warrior personality for your philosophical ideals too? Jupiter represents purpose or vision too, Mars Jupiter combo for spiritual training and ketu joining means deep identification with it as that done in recent past lives. So that can show  vision quest.

@amit Wow, yes...! Visison quest, Sun Dance (Lakota tradition; four days of praying to the father Sun/life, no food, no water).

In a ceremony I once saw greek soldiers marching in the coals of the fire; maybe that was a true vision of a past life; I believe so. Maybe "I" was a participant in that war.

No problem accepting killing animals for eating them and I have participated in that. (Industrial animal farming/killing is a problem though, of course.)

Pondering on my Ketu/Jupiter in Hasta too lately. My concepts come more from Vic Dicara´s teaching than Ernst; haven´t done his nakshatra course yet. But according to VD: Hasta is all about inspiration. And yes; kids inspire me and so do obviously astrology and philosophy. Laws? Yes, cosmic laws, math etc (also have Mars in Citra so that contributes to that I guess). At the same time Ketu there creates a genuine detachment to life, lack of inspiration and curiosity - that´s my feeling and interpretation. It´s like a natural tendency for a detached, buddhist kind of approach to life; have the feeling of this being my last lifetime on Earth, believing that I will reincarnate in some other reality next time (just a theory..). Realizing that true detachment craves that you connect first, before giving it up; just not wanting to eat is not a merit...

Thank you Amit!

Ketu gives detachment and dissatisfaction until rahu sign is properly developed.

@amit Yep... That´s my focus. I was celebrating my 52nd birthday in a teepee a little more than a year ago and my prayer was all about being content, being pleased (connect to life). (Happiness is such a big and word... and I´m an Aquarius Venus after all, don´t need that much...) Actually in my last vision quest some years ago, my vision was about that; very simple, very beautiful. So I´m hopeful and I think I´m getting better on it. Connecting to life.

And now I will go out for to pray with my third tobacco (rustic cigars from Guatemala) for today; it´s a 21-day praying project, day 13... A quite disciplined, quite martial prayer with the grandfather fire envolved....

Thank you Amit! /Haha, sorry for calling you "admit" earlier; I¨ll correct that.)

Your Rahu's lord is with the ketu means you are not exploring new visions but completing the missions already initiated in recent previous lifetimes.

@amit Hi Amit, I'm curious. Would you give a similar interpretation if Rahu's lord is with Ketu in the same nakshatra, but in different signs?

@kam

Do you mean nakshatras of rahu's lord and ketu are same but their signs are different? Then no

Nakshatras define the way in which the planets unfold their inherent qualities, so they will unfold themselves in similar way in case of same nakshatra but do their own jobs.

@amit Which kind of supports my idea that this is a lifetime for finishing things. Say goodby to mother Earth and then back to... ... secret destination. 😉

Kind of joking; after all I have Jupiter in my 5th house. (And I invision God as a humorist...). But only kind of, of course.

@meyes hi Mattias,

As for physical performance, how is your Venus?

Ernst keeps emphasising in graha sutras course, that athletes need more a good Venus than a good Mars. This is because when you do intensive physical actvity then the most important thing is how fast the body can recover from intense work. And it is Venus who is responsible for regeneration. ????

@agnesbarna Very true Agnes, a good reminder. My Venus is good, in GF dignity in Aquarius, 30 degrees of starvation by Sun and Moon together and 65 degrees of delightment from Mercury and Saturn; 122 % ShadBala but low in Dig and AyaBala... So for sure, Venus helps more than it hinders me and you are right about the physical aspects of it. And capacity for regeneration, yes, gifted with that.

Thank you

@agnesbarna Also having my (good) Venus in my 9th house has turned out to be a true asset in astrology, that is for Cards of Truth, that I have an easy time to relate to. Venus for cardreading. Saves my Jupiter´s ass when I stumble in astrology...

@meyes hi Mattias,

Wow,.that is really cool. ????

But why Venus for card reading? "Seeing meaning where there is none"?

Playing cards for fun is Mercury, I guess (game).

@meyes ok, I have found in the class handout of Ernst (Jaimini 3 course), that indeed, Ve and 9th house is needed for Tarot (Cards of Truth) etc reading. ????

It is really amazing how these interpretations work out in reality. ????????

@agnesbarna It really is, and the Cards of Truth... wow! They portrait people so well. It´s like a perfect orchestra, the BC being the maestro with a vision of what experience to present and the rest of the cards working perfectly together to make it come true. I have made several reading lately and in not one case the person has not felt identified with.. every card, I´d say! In an hour I´ll do a reading for a 5 of Clubs-person like myself and I have this feeling that we could not be more different, him and me. That´s going to be interesting!

@agnesbarna @amit I also have Saturn in my Svamsa. I guess that contributes to sturdiness too. Or endurance. I need it, since Saturn is DB in my Rasi chart.

Saturn in swamsha makes person simple without any complicated thinking if there are benefic influences on it cause simple living.

It can also make person hard working in their life with benefic influences on it.

@amit I find that both predictions are true. I´ve also got Venus in Aquarius so I'm not at all into luxury. I don´t even need or want a home. Haven´t owned a car for years.

And I´m hard working, for sure.

@amit Another interesting - I hope - observation along the same line: I have a strong connection to nature. As a kid and young man I was a birdwatcher, botanist, entomologist etc. Nature studies of all kinds. Spiritually I have an easy time relating to totem animals and receiving omens from nature. I once, as a young man, spontaneously (no drugs) heard the trees talking to me.

I think that's connected with Saturn and Venus as Saturn represents woods and talking to nature should be Venus as Venus is able to see meaning where there is none.

So Venus too should come out as a career planet in d1 or d9.

@amit The Cards of Truth really speak to me and I have an easy time understanding them (Venus for card reading). I love to relate to the nature symbols of that system. Also the most obvious recognition I´ve got in society was when I as a kid/young adult was a writer/journalist with nature as my main theme. Published in fancy places. Venus and Saturn both exalted in the 10th...

Just got one of these omens while praying with a tobacco. I was slightly burned by a toxic caterpillar on my left thigh. Thigh = sagittarius = my 7th house, left side = the public, so a reminder about being more receptive to my public, I guess.

Always try to be observant to omens especially while praying. The other day I was praying for my power animals when a locust showed up just in front of me where I haven´t seen any of those before. Abundance... Travels in time and space, and to have courage to dare the leap...

Thank you Amit, I learn so much from this. About myself and about astrology.

@amit Sure... Have you done the Cards of Truth course? Ernst there tells us about the Three of Diamonds and how it often gets activated as a psychic card in some kind of crisis. That is my Sun card.

I was around 21 years old and felt that I carried the weight of mother Earth´s survival on my shoulder. As I said I was a birdwatcher and all that, and in my group we also tried to save the world. A Greta Thunberg experience in a minor scale. I realized I couldn´t do much and felt that everything was hopeless. (My Saturn card is 9 of Clubs, saying: "Leave the ideals behind, don´t waste your energy dreaming about a better world.") It was spring, I was living alone in a small cottage in the forest, sun was bright, the grass was green and I was miserable. Depressed. To a degree where I collapsed, lay down in the grass and felt despair. I don´t know how long it lasted, but after a while I in some way registered the trees speaking to me. "What´s happening with you, silly human? We are just fine, it´s springtime, life is happy!" Well, not exactly those words, actually no words at all I guess, it´s a traduction from tree language, haha. I can´t say that I "heard" it neither, I mean, not with my physical ears, but someway it was like hearing it. I didn´t reflect much on it after that, until my spiritual awaking many years later. Since I arrived to Mexico 8 years ago I have developed a strong connection to plant medicine. In maya astrology I have a number 6 going on - Venus again - supposingly giving me a strong connection the plant kingdom. My "nahual", the maya sign of the day, is Imox, seen as water, so a very receptive sign. "Water receptive to plant medicine", so now you can see why I pray with tobacco.

Vargottama of the moon or lagna simply strengthens the chart as a whole. It makes all good things give more and all bad thing's give less.
