Hey everyone,

I’m a little confused on how to analyze the atmakaraka. For the Jaimini 2 chart @ernst mentions that Venus and Saturn are hurting the AK Mercury. But I thought that Venus and Mercury are forming a raja yoga due to Venus being the putrakaraka. And Saturn is the darakaraka so it should also be forming raja yoga through its rasi aspect, right? Are these two separate types of analysis? I haven’t gotten through all of the Jaimini courses so maybe I am jumping ahead.
I also thought that planets couldn’t really hurt the AK via conjunction. I don’t remember where I heard this so maybe this is a separate idea as well. Is Venus hurting Mercury solely because it is debilitated? Do we not include Mercury being kopi into the equation then?

I greatly appreciate any help!

for those who don’t have access to the chart: AK is Mercury. Mercury, Venus, Sun are in Virgo rasi aspected by Saturn in Pisces.

I prob could have answered this question right after I asked it. 😆 It’s sometimes difficult to study while raising a baby. But also maybe a blessing bc it forces me to go over the same lectures multiple times.

Okay, so conjunctions in the svamsa cannot hurt the ak but in the rasi they can take away from the native’s happiness. And I’m pretty sure the yogas I mentioned are for concrete manifestations but I’ll have to wait until I get to that lecture to confirm.

Do benefics only hurt the ak by rasi aspect in the svamsa when debilitated? What if they’re in enemy sign?

@karinia Hi! Do you remember which lesson mentions the difference between conjunctions to AK in Rasi and Navamsa?

I also need to retake all Jaimini classes.

But as a general rule, yes, Jaimini is about concrete things. BPHS is about the psychological dimension and our internal perceptions. The difference between getting married and being happy(fulfilled), single or married, with your relationship status.

@nkan Hi Nadya, he talks about it before he gets into the svamsas in the first Jaimini audio class and he gets into several examples during the svamsas.

@karinia Thank you! Curious to hear others' feedback about potential negative impact of benefics in enemy dignity. I personally think in this case DB Venus hurts Mercury because it's debilitated in its sign, not due to the conjunction, but I'm not sure.
