Hello Ernst and All,

I have a question about the relationship between the Sun and the Rahu/Ketu themes in the horoscopes. I am currently working my way through the "Healing Rahu & Ketu" course, and ask myself the following: If the topic of the Rahu / Ketu axis has such a high priority and meaning in life, and we are very much the zodiac signs of Rahu and Ketu (especially Ketu as I understood), what kind of position does the Sun also occupy in this? The Sun, which is the Self and forms the essence, if I understood right. I understand the Rahu/Ketu placement as a journey to the real Self, but my Self is also the Sun. I have difficulties to bring these two aspects together, Thank you !

We are not the signs of Rahu and Ketu at all. Thats much of the problem. Tehse are the ancestral karmas that formed us and the environment we grew up in, - environment is the product of those who came before us. We need to break free of these ancestral patterns and shine as ourselves, not play the same patterns.

@ernst For the people who have their Sun conjunct one of the nodes, does that mean that they stay in their formative environments indefinitely? Is it more likely that they will repeat their ancestral patterns/karmas indefinitely and be less likely to find a way to shine as themselves?

@kam

I have a Sun-Ketu (you too, rt?) and I don't think so. I think in this case the Ketu pattern is very linked to the Sun i.e. being oneself and having shined as oneself. But there are deeper lessons of surrender and freedom to be learnt that are more than just about shining in a normal way. It's like having to surrender the need to shine to God or Universe, rather than karma, fate, ancestors.... or something like that.

@leela Yes, Sun-Ketu too. I think I feel it a bit differently than you because I don't have a strong Sun. I definitely relate to the feeling of having to surrender the desire to shine to God, but for me, there is an even stronger struggle to shine as myself instead of following family/ancestral patterns and expectations of me.

Of course, Sun-Ketu as such has the "need to shine as oneself" built into it, so I do relate to that. But, Surrendering to God is not the same as succumbing to fate and ancestral patterns... as per me. Surrendering that need to shine/be first is a step toward Rahu, for me at least.

@ernst I did post a question under Rahu/Ketu thread and have a specific question, somewhat along these lines.

I know a person (male, 60s) that has ketu conjunct sun (Taurus), conjunct the MC. (also square Uranus 12th house and opposed Neptune). While he had a successful career, he has lost everything as he simply can't seem to manage his money or his life.  I know sun/ketu can make one a "drifter" (he is 9 Clubs, also). So, I'm puzzled - being this is the pattern of his life, how would rahu fit in. With the sun (peregrine) so prominent on 10th house cusp does this make it even more difficult for him?

Thanks so much... It really helps my understanding of all this when I can see astrological signatures in people I know well.... I've so much to learn, obviously!

Also - any new cards video coming this year? 🙂

@lisakuimjiansbcglobal-net In this scenario rahu can be seen as the foundation of a house and ketu the roof.  This person has a golden gilded roof, but it keeps falling in because of the weakness of the foundation.  The inner work of the 4th house, Scorpio and Rahu is what will enable him to support the outer phenomena, this can serve as incentive to go into Rahu, leave Ketu behind.  Once Rahu is explored Ketu will manifest so no need to worry about maintaining it.

Hi Leela and kam, Recently I watched Ernst Videos of Rahu & Ketu conjunct with the Sun ( It is in the Healing Rahu & Ketu course). I will note here some key sentences:

The planets closest to the nodes fuel the transformative fire of Rahu and Ketu and needs to be healed. The closer, the more it needs to be healed. In the case of Ketu/Sun conjunction, the Sun magnifies the need of " I am ok, being what I am ". There is the experiences in early life to feel unable to lead. Actually they are very capable of leading. They want to control themselves, don´t want to make mistakes. They feel that, in any moment, they could loose control. Ketu/Sun people want structure in their life (As Sun governs the bones) . They fear that something/ somebody breaks this consistency. More evolved, they see themselves in a light that allows them to live with more peace (Ketu gives us spiritual peace and a subtle and deep happiness).

Sun with Ketu doesn´t want to go out of the Ketu house- but look the other influences too. f. ex. as closer Saturn to Ketu the more a person wants to get out of Ketu house. (The examples of healed and unhealed nodes in the Healing Rahu & Ketu are super interesting too!).

As for Rahu conjunct Sun (I have this in my birth chart): They don´t have the confidence to do, are scared they´ll never be first, therefore can be pushy, doing things more out of fear. The healing of this condition is, when they experience themselves as doing things and getting capable and able to guide their lifes. They need more structure and consistency. As I understood, Moon and/or Saturn with Rahu doesn´t make the person want to go into the Rahu house.

Sun and Moon being together is always good for balancing Rahu and Ketu.

I hope I did not misunderstand the content of the videos and that it will help clarifying.

There might be, in some way, a bigger emphasis on the zodiac the Sun and Rahu/Ketu are in.
