Do we ever use a the Sun as self factor? Like if your saham lord already is a self factor wouldn't that be a good case to use the Sun as a self factor.

yes, sun is always a self factor.
In your varshaphala manual you don't mention the Sun.

For tajika yogas even muntha lord is not mentioned
Sorry, I did not know you were asking in context of Varshaphala. Suprisingly sun is not signaled out as a super important planet in varshaphala just because its the sun. Its the planet that indicates the TIME of the varshaphala chart, which is very important ,but unless its the lagna lord, muntha lord or year lord, its not gong to be unusually important.
