With respect to rahu cusps:

1. Look at the the angle that rahu is closet too. Read that angular placement of the nodes. 

2. Look at any cusps in the same sign as Rahu.

3. Look at the closest cusp to rahu if its different from 2 above and give that cusp emphasis as well.

The Technique from Phaladeepika are not something I ever found working great. Its quite simple and takes into account benefic and malefic influences with planetary aspects and house lord. its meant for predicting the well being or not of a bhava. I tried it years ago, and found it lacking.

about using end of houses, someone asked if it would change values or interpretation. It would change interpretation.
