How to find in a chart, whether this person will get married or not, is it promised or he will never find one in his lifetime or not.

Jaimini Sutras Chapter 1, Pada 4 – Astrology-Videos.com (astrology-videos.com)

Video #2 goes into details on whether a person will get married or not. Not sure how much Jaimini you have studied but obviously it will make more sense if you have studied the previous audio courses.

Here are my notes if it helps follow along: Good luck! ????

We use the Upapada Jaimini technique (counting from the 10th cusp to determine the Upapada)

  1. Upapada in a malefic sign (= the ruler of the sign is a malefic) OR a malefic is in the Upapada, the person doesn’t get married or, if they do, their spouse at some point will be lost (can mean death or divorce in modern times).
    1. Leo / Sun doesn’t count as a malefic for this purpose (more of a neutral)
    2. Moon malefic or benefic? Look at the Moon in the Rasi chart (not in the Vargas) to see if it’s waxing or waning. Carry this over to the Vargas
    3. Mercury malefic or benefic?
      1. Malefic if it’s joined a malefic. As a malefic, it won’t make things worse but it won’t buffer things like a benefic does.
      2. Neutral if joined the Sun.
      3. By itself or with another benefic, it’s a benefic.
  2. Benefics rasi aspecting or joining any other planet in the Upapada helps getting married and keep a spouse alive even if malefics are there. Saving grace.
  3. Benefics in the Upapada will “kill” the spouse just like a malefic and a benefic debilitated aspecting won’t do any good. At best, it won’t be harmful but won’t give good. Malefic debilitated will kill the spouse.
  4. Exalted planet in the Updapada makes the person rich and wise, very fortunate in marriage (“many wifes”)
  5. Gemini as the Upapada, same as #4, as long as Gemini is not influenced by malefics (influenced = malefics in it or rasi aspected).
  6. Jaimini is mostly concerned about malefics in the Upapada, not so much when they aspect it. Aspects can cause problems but won’t override a benefic in the Upapada and a benefic aspecting the Upapada is better than a malefic aspecting.
  7. When lord of Upapada is in own sign, it helps the person keep the spouse until death, keeps the threat of malefics away (see WR AUS chart)
  8. D60 is critical for determining a black and white issue, yes/no issue and the hopes of the person in regards to marriage.
  9. Malefics and benefics are determined by the Rasi chart (even when looking at D7 and D60)
  10. Dignity is based on each varga independently.

Also, look at the 7th “Amsa” is the 7th chart, D7 (NOT D9)

With Upapada as determined in the Rasi chart (not of the D7), SO we carry the Upapada from the Rasi into the D7

Also, look at the D60, we do it differently, we calculate a new Upapada for the D60 (because vargas run in sets of 5, 1-12 where the Rasi is dominant, the last set of charts is 48-60, D60 is the sole chart in that group so we calculate a new one.)

=> I actually have a question for @Ernst on this one as it seems like the Upapada is calculated in each varga chart independently from the Rasi as per Kala software. So that rule about carrying the Upapada from the Rasi to the Upapada may have changed. @Ernst, can you let us know? Also, any idea why we look at the D7 and not the D9? Would that be because we look at the results of the relationship (D7) when the D9 is an already established marriage?
