Hello Ernst and All,
1. If Venus is the Atma Karaka and it is in Taurus, so moolatrikona, how to understand passion? Does it cause less serious or less destructive passion? Or dignity does not matter in this sense?
2. Should we consider Ma-Ve conjunction, in some way as passion, even if they are not related to AK in any way?
Thanks a lot, regards,
Agnes
Hi Agnes,
Venus's Moolatrikona is in Libra. Venus as a planet is not pure passion only. It deals with making fulfilling long-term decisions, also capacity for devotion. Please check this video for better understanding:

Dignity always matters, the better and in more vargas the less stressful a planet will be.
Regarding Ma-Ve conjunctions - if it is Atmakaraka, it matters even more, but wherever Ma and Ve both influence a house/cusp they make it more fulfilling and passionate. So if you have it in the 6th - you will be hungry to do good with your health and ultimately that will bring you greater satisfaction.
Hope that helps :).

Hi Anges,
Just adding to what Kristiana wrote above.
In the "Yogas of Character" course in video (recording) 3, Ernst talks about the Venus/Mars conjunction within the context of Mahatma Gandhi's chart.
At the time, Ernst was still using the sidereal zodiac and he analyzes the "afflicted" Malavya yoga (Venus exalted or in own sign on an angle) in Gandhi's chart. He says that Mars and Venus in aspect or conjunction can make a person very sexually passionate, but also mean that their senses "aggravate them". He describes Mars/Venus as a combination that can make you frustrated with sex because you can only go so deep. He also says that that energy can be channeled into meditation very productively, so the person's passion can have an outlet (in meditation you are supposed to be able to always go deeper).
Not sure if this still reflects Ernst's current practices. Just wanted to add it for the sake of completeness.
In one of the Avashtas courses Ernst says that Venus conjunct Mars causes "excess passion". I recently gave a reading in which the native had this and she said that her flirtation and sexual energy often causes issues in her life. For instance having affairs with a boss or being evicted from a house for a landlord feeling like she was flirting with the husband. She said this before i mentioned the conjunction.
She said she wanted to embrace her passion and be proud of it. But to me it seemed to be talking up A LOT of space in her life. Venus was exalted so she was leaning to heavily into using that planet and ignoring her other planets and working out their issues.
But it did get me thinking... when does Mars-Venus become a "bad habit" and when is it just fine to have excess passion? Is it always an issue to have excess passion or is it sometimes ok and helpful?
In this case it was obviously taking up so much space in her life so I determined it was more of a bad habit than helpful. I advised it might be useful to channel it into spiritual pursuits such as meditation.
I am trying to understand what passion means astrologically anyway....
Mars position shows our hunger for that part of life, Venus position shows fulfillment, Sun's position indicates inspiration...
Dharma raja yoga (angle-trine lord conjunction) indicates inspiration...though it is not clear to me the difference between inspiration given by Sun and the inspiration given by Dharma yogas...
However where does passion fit into all this? I am not much familiar with Jaimini, so I am not sure if Jaimini has anything specific about passion?

Anand
