Hi Ernst,

I have 2 questions:

1. In my chart my Svamsa and my UpaPada are both in Cancer. My Atmakaraka in in Capricorn and my Pada is in Virgo. The fact that my Svamsa and UpaPada are both in Cancer, does that mean something?

2. Another chart, the 12th from the Pada is Leo aspecting Rahu, Ketu and Saturn which = expenses/losses. Yet the 11th from the UpaPda aspecting the same planets Rahu, Ketu and Saturn. So from the Pada, Rahu, Ketu and Saturn give losses, but from the UpaPada these same planets give gains. How do we interpret this?

Thx!

For #2. My understanding is that you use Jaimini's first source of strength for determining which sign is stronger between the sign of the Pada and the sign of the Upapada when there is a discrepancy between planets saying gain and also loss. So, find which of the two is stronger than read those planets from the stronger sign (between pada and upapada).

I believe Cancer would be more pronounced in general with sva and upapada there. But I will see what Ernst has to say as always...

@scott-m-19 Thx Scott. The next day i listened to the first audio of the Jaimini Pada 4 and Ernst actually addressed this question using Hugh Hefner's chart. He has exactly that scenario that i was asking about where the same planets for the Pada it is an expense but for the Upapada it is income. I would have thought you would use the Pada because the UpaPada is the secondary Pada. But Ernst said to go back and use the rules that was taught before to determine the stronger sign (sign with the most embodied planets).
