Hi Ernst,

I've heard different teachings about how strong, or not ,  a starvation or delight  will be  given if its Sleeping, DB , starved itself or whatever ...using other Avastas or Dignity , does that affect how strong effect will be felt?

Thanks,

Meg C

I guess I am trying to look beyond techniques and understand the planets as a family unit and their effects upon each other.

I guess tracing the lords is one way to understand the interconnections and enrich what we understand from the avastha itself. Like what Ernst mentioned in his reply.. Ketu in Leo will be ruled by the Sun, so a Sun starved will add difficulties since that particular Ketu is ruled, and thus impacted, by the Sun. Since your Sun is in Gemini, how your Mercury is placed will likely also have some effect.. (though Ra/Ke are more impacted by the lords as they are astral.. so another thing is your Rahu lord is starved/agitated, thats perhaps more palpable)

What I am trying to get to is more than that. There are deities associated with the planets and Nakshatras. There are characteristics associated with the Rasis. These are living things, and they also live within us. Perhaps ‘living things’ is not the right word, perhaps the right word is ‘conscious beings’. But they are conscious out there, and hence they are conscious within us. Every one of them has a say, and they all speak in our minds.

I am trying to separate what each one is saying, how they are speaking, are they getting their meanings across, where have they learnt to speak in this manner, is this the right way to achieve their goals, etc. etc. I wouldn’t know if this is the right way to do it, but it is the only way I can understand them and get them to live and work properly in my house (my physical body). That way they do not affect me negatively and do not cause hurt to others.

Perhaps this is a convoluted way to approach astrology, but hey, what else have I got left to do in my life. Hahaha.

I don't think it is convoluted.. All that you mentioned is a given.
That is where studying the Rasis, Planets and everything individually, conceptually helps, right? So we understand what they're all about and start to get intimate with various characteristics as-is. Thats why we begin with those basics.. What I mentioned to you was an analysis that can be undertaken after that. Though we can do it simultaneously, because it's a layered thing and we'll always keep realising more and more as we contemplate on something.

Yes, it is a multi-dimensional puzzle. Every time I understand something at another level, it feels like the previous structure I had built disintegrates and I have to rebuild it again from the ground up with the new information. It is going round and round around the zodiac, looking at each and every thing again and again. Perhaps this lifetime will be devoted to understanding the concepts instead of practicing techniques.

Hi Meg,  just focus on the lajjitaadi avastha. In most cases you do not need to know the extent of influence beyond the sign being a huge influence, the conjunction being the huge influence, and aspects being an influence as per the aspect value. There are subtle calculations to be made to determine exact influence but I dont do those with the other avasthas as I used to. I do it on 4 levels now and it just going to be too overwhelming to teach at this point until people know how to read the avasthas themselves.

saturn in leo would be in great enemy sign or in neutral sign depending on where the sun and saturn are in the rasi chart, so half the time its in bad dignity.
