hi ernst, i have a technical question. shamed planet in the 5th  as i understood was indicated by the 5th place/sign from lagna. im not sure but i think i had a brief look at a chart few months back and i remember it had a shamed planet as indicated by kala (i think it was venus saturn conj in gemini) but it was the 4th from lagna but conj 5th cusp, and at that time i was surprised that kala marked it as shamed(as it had two figures of red values for venus/ saturn L/A). it actually did make sense with reference to that chart more then just being a starved Venus.

now i am looking at another chart with sightly similar situation ( ju and sa conj in libra) in the 4th sign but conj 5th cusp however in this case kala record ju  with one avashta, (only one red figure not two ) is that figure indicating starved JU or shamed?.

my question in a broader way is ; does a situation where  a planet is joint 5th cusp ( but not 5 place/sign from lagna) is regarded as shamed planet (with malefic of course) ? and alternatively ,if it is 5th sign from lagna but not 5th cusp but other cusp or even no cusp at all, is it still regarded as shamed? or maybe its more like different degrees of that expression, with the 5th sign 5th cusp being the most pronounce expressions of shame , and the other less pure 5th indications, as more mildly shamed?   also i have noticed that in a woman chart (although kala wouldnt show it of course) a 5th from the moon conjunction of venus saturn gave more of a shamed flavor( in my view and observation) rather then starved venus, and i wander what is your take on that?

that is the starvation, kala will only show it when it is in the 5th sign from asc.

Sharon brought out a good question. So Ernst if a "shamed" planet is in the 5th cusp but lets say in the 4th house from Lagna, is that considered a shamed planet or does it have to be in the 5th house from Lagna to be considered a shamed planet? Thx!

Sorry Ernst, i think you answered my question... The shamed planet has to be in 5th house from the Lagna to be considered a shamed planet....
