Hi Ernst,

I understand that energetic body gets deranged when Mars focuses on Saturn. But how to solve it?

How to know what is not in my kingdom, so I can avoid investing energy into it?

Do we just put energy into Sun's house/rashi, thinking that is our kingdom? But if Saturn is lord of 5th, we still need to put energy into our kids, our creative expression, right? or is that not part of our kingdom?

I understand we need to factor in Sun and Moon also starving Saturn, but it is not clear to me how to solve Mars Starving Saturn, overall.

Regards,

Anand

I have Mars starving Saturn to a small degree but still. Saturn rules my 5th house as well. I invest energy in my kid and I find it natural and not an issue. But, recently, after working with children with learning disabilities, I realized I had no energy for my own kid and family. I was investing all my energy in kids that were not mine. As much as I enjoyed them, I've decided to move forward more cautiously in the Fall and in a way that is not as draining for me. I think that's a typical example of Mars starving Saturn: investing energy in things that are not your "business". When it comes to creative expression, is it really your creative expression or one that is not yours? Hope that makes some sense.

Hi Mona,

Thanks for your providing your perspective, it helps.

You said: "When it comes to creative expression, is it really your creative expression or one that is not yours?"

How do I define what is mine and what is not mine? Except for what is indicated by Saturn, which could be a dead horse in the life time of the birth chart, everything else is there to be engaged with good habits, right?

While I can focus on listening to my inner voice to lead the way, or to catch myself beating a dead horse generally speaking, I am interested in identifying the dead horse astrologically.

Before determining the dead horse astrologically, all we are left with is knowing we have a starved Saturn and we could be beating a dead horse in relation to the stuff influenced by Saturn, which is still pretty general, not quite specific based on more information from the birth chart.

Regards,

Anand

@anand I remember Ernst saying about the Sun/Venus dynamic: when someone falls in love with an art style and becomes good at it, that's Venus starving the Sun. When someone creates a different type of art, that's the Sun not being starved. While Mars/Saturn is a different planet combo, I like to think of this example when 5th house is involved and Mars putting too much energy into something that's not our creative expression business.

I "meditate" on my chart regularly, I understand things little by little, sometimes I'm stuck, sometimes, I have aha moments. So, I would say be patient with your chart and understanding of it. Maybe you're too involved with your kids (I know I can be and am letting go of this with this new understanding), maybe you're too involved with your best friend's artwork (am just making this up being cliché on purpose, because I think that, at the end of the day, you can only know;).

Saturn is particular the things that need to be dropped, left behind. They are not yours, or have outlived their usefulness in your life. So it always revolves around something you keep going back to to make work. Everything we do requires work. So try to work it, if it gets any better, its probably supposed to be in your life. If you work it, and it does not get better, or it seems to get better but after a little while it turns out not to be better, than its probably saturn mars and something to drop.

@ernst But what if one has a dual sign lagna and Mars/Saturn in conjunct in one of the angles?

Due to rashi aspect, that means the 4 important angles/pillars of life are effected. 1, 4, 7, and 10. That is in addition to the 2 houses Saturn rules and the cusps and planets that he aspects as well.

Would one have to withdraw from those houses and areas? We can't exist in the world without the angular pillars.

Thanks,

S.

@mitryendra80 I don’t think it’s about withdrawing/dropping but about choosing the battles to fight: is it working/workable and is it worth it? That’s where Mercury and Venus can help.

thats not it at all. The house that saturn rules are houses we are finishing up things with. Thats NORMAL. when mars is with saturn, a person does not know when to stop making something happen. its the beating the dead horse.

@ernst Thanks for clarifying. I figured I may have been oversimplifying it.

Hi Ernst,

I am trying to locate the dead horse I may be beating up.

I have Saturn/Mars/Ketu in the 9th. Saturn is the lord of my 4th and 5th.  Sun is aspecting Saturn to 30 points. Moon is in same lord conjunction with Saturn and aspecting it to 8 points.

Could it be that my Mars is following the dictates of my Sun instead of impulsively beating up a dead horse? Could it be that, in order for my ego to look good or simply to do good but not minding my business in the process, I am focusing on others deep psychology — 4th  and creative expression — 5th  in spiritual matters —9th?

Could that be the dead horse, or could it be somewhere else?

Having said the above, some of my deepest anxieties in life have revolved around my mother's illness/hospitalization — 4th ? and keeping my children safe from injuries — 5th ? Could this be Mars following Moon's dictate through same lord conjunction?

Other than following Sun/Moon dictates, is my Mars also impulsively focusing on my Saturn?

Can you please help clarify this?

Regards,

Anand
