To better analogize a car, jupiter is the spark that ignites the fuel in the motor. So every tiem a cylinder gets filled with gas, it needs a spark to ignite the combustion, jupiter is that spark that comes, then comes again, comes again. So its not just one big spark, its a series of small sparks. The jupiter rahu feels the BIG spark, what they need is the regularity of the small sparks. Wthout those small sparks, its like turning the key over, the motor turns, but as soon as you let go of the key, the motor stops. If the car is not moving due to lack of sparks, its the spark system that needs fixing, ignore the rest of the car, just check the spark circuit, same with jupiter rahu, its not about venus at all, its ab out JUPITER.

That means its about discovering one's purpose. once the purpose is discovered, the sparks come constantly, so like all things rahu, its about time and trying anything that is new.

Got it. Thanks.

I wonder if Rahu-Jupiter's big spark is to make us aware of our gut instinct.

I just finished revisiting the ‘Understanding the 5 Elements’ course. There is a lot about Jupiter and purpose in there, that got me thinking deeper. I had taken that course about 3 years ago, but it was much more clearer now that I have actually started thinking about Jupiter.

I still haven’t finished putting it together, but thought I might give you the heads-up in case you were interested.

@manisha Thank you, I will definitely check this course out! Today I've been contemplating what Ernst wrote about Jupiter-Rahu having a broken spark system. In my case, I have a hard time accepting the lack of sparks being caused solely by Jupiter because although Mars, the ruler of Jupiter is starved in my first house; Venus, the ruler of Ketu, is ashamed in my chart. So, I think when the sustainable, material love of Venus is not in fact as sustainable as I imagined in would be, or when it ends suddenly, that's when my Jupiter spark goes out. I suppose this could also be due to the fact that Jupiter is opposing Venus in my chart.

I've really enjoyed this discussion thus far, so thank you very much for starting this thread 🙂

I understand what you mean. I have all my planets in mixed avasthas, except Jupiter who is neutral. While Jupiter is in Capricorn, Mars is in Cancer. So for me, Mars feels the futility of his actions, and the Jupiter spark goes out.

It has been wonderful seeing how the base problem of Rahu-Jupiter conjunction manifested differently for you, Mona, and myself. And the different types of problems we face trying to resolve it.

One thing I am noticing in my life is that all the sparks have been about Ketu, or have come because of planets with Ketu. Whenever I have wanted to go towards the Rahu house, I have been met with resistance, first through others, then through myself. I do have a lot of planets around Ketu that counterbalance the heaviness of Jupiter. It is only as I understand and resolve the planets around Ketu that some of the balance shifts towards Rahu-Jupiter. I am not feeling it within yet, but I am seeing it manifest as good mentors for me in life.

Ever since starting Jupiter MD more than a decade ago, I am becoming aware of another opposition to that goodness of Jupiter, that is holding me back, and that awareness has been getting much stronger recently. It is the same as that of Arjuna saying I am killing my own kin. I am noticing it as the play of Vishnu killing Vishnu. How can I allow myself to take part in something like that? But I also see the other side of the coin, that nothing really dies, but only gets transformed. To bring something to life, something has to die. That part of me that allows that death in others needs to get stronger. But that goes against the goodness of Jupiter. Wasting even a little bit of anything material that I touch is a big no-no to me, and yet there is no way to avoid wastage. No one else can help resolve that conundrum except myself.

In that sense, I can understand what Ernst is saying about “Jupiter with Rahu is on a journey to find out what their good way of being actually is.”

@manisha I can also relate to feeling the futility of Mars, as my Mars is in Virgo in my Lagna. I tend to begin things with a lot of expectations from myself and also from others on me, but I tend to fall short of those expectations every time.

I understand what you mean about all of the sparks revolving around Ketu and the planets with Ketu. It seems to be the cinematic theme of my life, as Ketu is with it's lord Venus, and the Sun in Libra. However, I didn't begin to recognize the ashamed Venus avashta until my Moon Dasha began 5 years ago. My moon is in Taurus in my 9th, and it's waning. I think having a Svamsha Venus helped me manage it before because I just kept everything contained within myself. But ever since Moon Dasha began, the ashamed avashta has been busting out of it's box more and more.

The pursuit of joy is mainly what drives me towards Jupiter. Saturn is in the sign of Jupiter in my 4th with Uranus, so I think what I really want is to find the environment and people who accept the goodness that I have to offer and can help me cultivate more of it. It's been a goal of mine to find some good mentors in life as well, because that has always been a yearning of mine. So in that sense, I think I can understand wholeheartedly what Ernst was trying to say with that quote.

For me, it’s the opposite. I go above and beyond my expectations, and yet am left with nothing concrete in the end, which is what causes the frustration. But it is also teaching Mars to investigate carefully before he undertakes the fight with everything at his disposal. Perfect balance is hard to achieve and takes time.

The cardinal Fire sign works so differently than the cardinal Earth sign, and the different cusps involved add a different flavour to it. Of course, there are other things involved to create the difference, and we are only looking at one aspect.

I would like to share another version of Jupiter Rahu. i have a close relative who has Jupiter Rahu in Gemini, and his Atmakaraka is also Jupiter. Jupiter is many things, purpose, philosophy, wisdom, knowledge, money etc...He loves to preach about wisdom, philosophy and religion yet he does not follow in his life what he preaches which i find interesting. Jupiter is also money. He spends money like there is no tomorrow. And per Jaimini  Sutra 1.2.99 it said people their Atmakaraka with Rahu, when they argue they try to overpower, overwhelm the other person which is so true with him. In a verbal argument he comes down with so much stuff that you don't even know where to start to respond to his argument....

@manisha When i learned astrology and found out what he is like i have discovered a way to argue with him as i am a very methodical, logical person with an exalted Mars and my Atmakaraka is also Mars. I just let him talk and he goes on and on things that really have nothing to do with the argument at hand. Then i told him most of his arguments are irrelevant and stick to the relevant stuff then we can argue. Then he stopped LOL.

My Mars is far from perfect, it is combust and ashamed as i have Sun Mercury and Ketu with it. It is something in this life time that i need to work on and continue to work on, but i have to say I have many characteristics like Mars. Luckily, my best planet in my chart is not Mars, but it is Jupiter as i have a raja yoga with the 9th lord in the 10th house in great friend dignity. Jupiter has helped me through so much as i love learning, and it gives me the wisdom how to deal with difficult situations in life...

We are all here to learn something about ourselves and to improve ourselves as long as we recognize we want to improve. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Happy New Year Manisha and to more learning to discoveries in 2022!

With planets with Ketu, it seems that it all comes down to boundaries, so that we can focus on Rahu and get somewhere. Setting those boundaries is dealing with a whole heap of tangled mess ????

Happy New Year, Tuyet. Here’s to untangling a bit more of that mess in 2022!

@tuyetv Ahh this seems to be the classic interpretation of Jupiter-Rahu conjunction that I hear so often. I'll echo Manisha and say I'm glad Jupiter is my BK and not my AK haha

You got me thinking - With regards to your close relative who has Jupiter Rahu, have you noticed whether he loves to preach with regards to everything in life, or only with regards to where he has weak planets and the areas of life with regards to those planets?

@manisha i notice he has an opinion on how things should be with everything especially morality yet in his life, he does not practice what he preaches. He blames everyone for all the problems in his life that he created. His life is a mess yet he tells other how they should live. I love this relative dearly, but he does not listen to suggestions either which makes me sad because he is an unhappy person. His Rahu Jupiter is in the 11th house Gemini. Jupiter is in a great enemy sign. In his case it makes it worse i think because his Atmakaraka is also Jupiter and from the Atma his Jupiter is aspected by Ketu and Saturn all the malefics per Jaimini. So in general life is tough for him. Not a happy individual, lots of ups and downs...I took the Bach Flower class and one thing i learned and it stuck with me is that if you change yourself, 80% of life problems go away. The other 20% sure other people in your life such as siblings, spouse, parents, friends contribute to the problems, but you yourself could fix 80% of the problems in your life. That was very profound for me as i find it to be very true. I wish he could see that...

Thanks for going into the details. As I was reading your post, someone I used to know came to mind. I have known him for many decades, and we kept in sporadic touch over the internet. He would give me relationship advice, and yet when I met him a few years ago, I was shocked to see how he sabotages any possibilities of relationships. If I have his birthdate right, he has Saturn-Moon conjunct, so I can understand. But he also has strong beliefs about how the world and the country should be run, keeps trying to get in touch with people in power to tell them how to run the place, and yet his life is a complete mess. He doesn’t have Rahu-Jupiter conjunction, and it is hard to get him to see that he is causing his own problems. All that fire in him going to waste trying to change something that is not in his sphere to create change.

I haven’t spent enough time on Vargas or Yogas yet, so not sure if that is what is triggering his behaviour. I have enough difficulty understanding myself with respect to my chart, so haven’t been spending enough time looking at the charts of others, except in a general way.

You are right about changing ourselves making most of life’s problems go away. We always see the problems outside of ourselves without realising that we are causing it. It took a long long time until I realised how I was writing the story of my life wrong. I laugh at myself now about how naive I was! LOL. On the bright side, it helped me understand the struggle people go through.
