Hi Ernst,

Thanks for another great Lajjitaadi Avasthas video. Just a quick question: I noticed you occasionally read from notes. Will you be posting those notes as part of the course manual?

One other thing I wanted to mention is that another interesting Sun/Saturn conjunction example is the quarterback Tom Brady. He strikes me as the guy who never gives up (still playing when everyone thought he would have retired a while ago and I've seen him come back from the "dead" and win games, though I understand nothing at American football, I just look at the numbers on the TV screen ????). Also, from what I understand, he was a last minute draft, far from being a favorite, sort of unseen. Conjunction is in Leo which probably helps his Sun and his Mercury is exalted, so it sounds like his love to play with and in life is supporting him.

@mona  I believe Tom Brady also has the Mahabhagya yoga so that certainly helps too...

How would Saturn’s starvation towards the Sun affect people who have Rahu in Capricorn or Aquarius? If Sun does not like to be in Saturn’s signs, but Saturn is dragging the Sun’s inspirations towards Rahu there, I guess people will have a harder time with it?

It will impact things a lot if ketu is in leo as then Ketu's lord is starved and t hey are coming from a tougher background, but otherwise it wont change things.

I have Sun-Saturn in Gemini and Rahu in Capricorn in 1st. I have always felt the need to make money and be independent. Would that be Saturn’s need for survival talking? Should the Sun in Gemini learn for learning’s sake and not worry about surviving? But then with Rahu in a sign about surviving in a material world, how would that work?

@manisha If I understand correctly, you're Capricorn ascendant and therefore Gemini is your 6th house, right? Ascendant lord in the house of work/service to others, so working for money would be a focus in your life. Saturn being the lord adds the survival component to it.

The way I understand Rahu in Capricorn is that the person needs to learn to be practical without being too controlling (including emotionally). Finding the balance between what emotionally works and what works materially. There's nothing wrong with our needs to survive unless it becomes too rigid and overly controlling, going with the flow being one strategy. For the funny story, one of my childhood friends has Ketu in Cancer and Rahu in Capricorn and she's so focused on keeping positive thoughts and experiences (the narrowness of Ketu in Cancer) that it becomes exhausting to be around her (interestingly enough, she is a corporate coach), her outer environment is controlled to the minute (I remember her telling me that we should meet at 6:32pm one day ????????????). She has to live in a certain environment (and she lives in a stunning magazine-worthy house), in an area where there's a certain weather pattern (she always said that she would lever live in this or that area of France, from a rather young age), eat a specific restaurants where the ambiance is just right, it's hard for her to be around her own mother because she's not upbeat enough, ....

We've known each others since we were 6 years old so I could go on and on. Now, am not saying this is you but I find her to be quite an extreme example (I don't know her ascendant and therefore where all this plays out though I have my guesses).  And obviously, there are a lot of other factors coming into play.

A quote from Steven Foster about Gemini: "It only wants to see, to witness the world. To gather all the clues. Ideas and understanding my arise, but they are not the point."

No, it’s not about Rahu in Capricorn that I was asking. I was trying to figure out the Sun-Saturn starvation and how it would work with Rahu in the Saturn signs. So survival need of the Sun-Saturn conjunction - Would the Sun be easily inspired towards Rahu more as Saturn will be dragging it to think more about survival?

If I was a Sagittarius ascendant, how would Sun-Saturn’s survival need work in the 7th house. Or the 8th house, if Rahu still falls in Capricorn or Aquarius, and the Sun-Saturn conjunction is still in Gemini.

I guess it’s still a twisted mess in my mind and I was trying to separate the strands. And the only way I can do it is if I can see how it plays out in my own life.

Steven Foster’s quote about Gemini is bang on. Sherlock Holmes is a great example of how the mind of a Gemini works. Not surprising, since his creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle definitely had one ???? Agatha Christie’s Virgo aspect can be seen through Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. Very different ways of being a Mercury sign.

@manisha In other words, you are asking how the Lajjitaadi avasthas of Saturn would impact Rahu since it's his lord? Personally, I would break it down in several steps:

- What does Rahu in the first house and in Capricorn mean? (or in the 2nd house in your Sagittarius Lagna option)

- How does Saturn Lajjittadi avasthas impact Rahu?

- How does Saturn Lajjitaadi avasthas impact the house it's in and potentially "import" Rahu there? If Saturn is in the 7th house, maybe healing relationships can support balancing Rahu (are relationships more used as a safety mechanism than a desire to share life and resources for example)?

- The Sun will do its own thing, it's starved by Saturn so how questions like "where can I find, focus and strengthen my personal power?" could be good reflexion so that it's not bogged down by Saturn.

I believe Ernst will talk about the Rahu/Ketu connection and the Lajjitaadi Avasthas in the Master Course. Am figuring some of it out but am not consistent and always clear with it.

And, yes, I always think of Sherlock Holmes when thinking of Mercury. Gather data at Gemini, eliminate and make sense of them at Virgo;)

Not quite. It was about Saturn's effects on the Sun in relation to Rahu in Saturn's signs.

Sun wants to shine, Saturn wants to hold it back. I was trying to understand that pairing and their effects on each other in relation to Rahu-Ketu, especially because Rahu-Ketu has to do with the lords of the signs opposite the two signs of Saturn.

So in my case, it would be the effects of Saturn on the Sun and the Moon.

I guess I am trying to look beyond techniques and understand the planets as a family unit and their effects upon each other. Once I understand that, how it plays out within me will be easy to see.

Perhaps I need to contemplate a bit more on what Ernst had written.

@manisha I would look at the aspect that Sun casts on Rahu (if any). And assume that the Sun’s aspect’s “quality” will be “colored” by its conjunction to Saturn. Just a thought.

Over the past couple of days, things played out in such a way that I was able to see how Sun-Saturn conjunction plays out on a subtle level, and how Saturn puts a block on Sun’s inspiration. Since it is not always Saturn pulling Sun, but also Sun pulling on Saturn, it had been hard to pinpoint exactly what was happening. Having a read of the Lajjittaadi Avasthas manual helped too.

Thanks for making the effort to answer my query.

@manisha Good to hear, I've had a lot of flashes of insights about my own chart lately, it's a nice feeling (even when it's a tough one;).

“Boy, do they make life difficult for themselves” - That sums it all up. I guess it would work better in certain signs than in others. It is amazing how it is not just one component, but how the entire chart works together.
