sometime doing nothing is the right thing to do such as the loss of a loved one. All you can do is persevere and let time heals....

This is a very interesting question; one that I think about a lot too.

Similar stuff with me; I have a Sa/Ma opposition on 1/7 in Cp/Cn.

The good thing with Sa/Ma 1/7 opposition when Sa is Cp or Aq is both have atleast one good avastha on them; so theres already some support.

Sa wants to chill and wait; keep things simple. Which is good for long term.

Mars wants to act and put energy into useful things and when necessary. Which is perfect for short term bursts.

I wonder if thats the lesson we have to learn - to distinguish between short term battles and long term stuff.  Sa exalts mars but Ma hurts Sa. I also wonder how the Ma opposition will be felt in these cases where Sa is in OH or MT.

It may not even be felt unless someone gets confused with what needs to be short term and what needs to be long term.

@scoobydoo indeed, all of this Saturn talk makes me think more about Mars, and the differences, perhaps even the impulsivity, or maybe even making things happen (within the bounds of the opportunities that are in front of us). My Mars is in my 2nd in Capricorn, but its still something I am trying to understand, perhaps because my Rahu is in Aries.

I almost wonder if Mars is more of a discipline planet than the common conception that Saturn is. @ernst Is that true?

Interesting. You will get good support for your Ra with Ma in Cap. I am also interested in Ernst's answer to the question of discipline planet.

I am not able to understand why Ma wants to hurt Sa when Sa is saving up energy for a Ma burst or a Ju burst. I am waiting for Ernst's video on Ma starving Sa.

@scoobydoo

When Mars starves Saturn, its spending its energy on something which is not one's duty or dharma. Or at simple level, could mean minding other's business than own.

Saturn wants to be left alone, but Mars energy puts unnecessary pressure on Saturn. And it also leads to wastage of Mars energy and frustration as he sees nothing fulfilling coming out of his actions.

I also always was wonder why Saturn - discipline. For me it is true Mars. Sattvam, strength of character, to exert what in your consciousness and not to fall in a hole. And when your fail in that you need good Saturn - perseverance, letting go..

I thought I'd share a mini experience of my Saturn-Mars aspect. I have this in my 1st house (Mars) and 4th house (Saturn). It snowed 25+ cm here and I was volunteered (not by choice, lol) to go outside and shovel it. Of course, I didn't feel like shovelling whatsoever (Saturn) but I didn't have a choice (Mars) and did it anyways, with the solace that at least this meant that I didn't have to work out later and could simply come back inside and rest, which is what I ended up doing.
